In the first five years of this decade, Skyline cast and introduced 110 new projects: Fonts, Collections, Borders, and Initials. All of these are still in stock and available for purchase. Only two months went by with no new offering. Can we keep it up? Yes! We’re covered for most of 2026 already. New for April: Bernhard Gothic Medium, 24pt. This worthy type face was done on commission for a good customer in Minnesota, and we cast 40 additional fonts so as to add it to our regular product line. As a point of interest, this was the face chosen by the U.S. government for instrument panel legends and placards in the cockpits of World War II military aircraft. (I owned and flew one, a Vultee BT-13A, for nine years.)

Restocked: Sans Serif Light 18pt with Deco Alternates, and a third casting of Collection No. 63, the most popular of our five ornamental “frame-it” Collections.
Without question the type face most in demand by the letterpress community is Parsons. The Chicago foundry Barnhart Bros. & Spindler, and successor American Type Founders, were the only ones who ever cast it. Our used type holdings in the warehouse have a considerable amount of Parsons and the time has come to consolidate this, reserve some of each size for our pressroom, and make the rest available to others. This project is underway. Just for fun I posted a good complete font of 24pt with all specials to eBay to see what trajectory it might have. It’s there now, closing on April 3, if you’d like to watch.
Hurray for spring, it brings us the premier west coast letterpress event! The San Jose Printers Guild is staging the 11th Annual Bay Area Printers Fair on April 25. Skyline is once again a sponsor of this worthy event at the lush and beautiful History Park, where the Guild has their own Printing Office. Free delivery to the Fair: place an order on the Skyline site, select Local Pickup as your shipping option, and in the Notes field type Bring to the BAPF. Hope to see you there!
