Description
The cast aluminum frame of this brayer is stamped BEN DAY INC. and PAT’D JULY 7th 1896. The handle is hardwood with a washer-like flange at the base that serves as a rest when the brayer is set down. The roller core is brass, with a flange on each end– the left one is integral, and the right is knurled and can be unscrewed and removed. (Apparently it was designed to accept a replaceable rubber sleeve as covering.) Both flanges are stamped DAY’S. A brass nut on one end can be removed for disassembly. I asked Adrian Ramos at Ramco Roller if covering could be cast onto this, and he assured me it could. The wooden box has brass hook-and-eye fasteners. It’s in good condition but does not look to be original or antique. Brayer is 14-5/8″ wide overall, and the box 16″.
NOTE:Â Shipping cost for this item will be the actual amount (probably more than our any-order flat rate). If you wish to purchase, drop an email with your address. The brayer will be reserved for you and shipping cost will be determined and invoiced.
