First top story this month: we are pleased to announce the release of Hebrew in 30 point, our third and largest size in that language. Last year’s acquisition of these matrices along with the 24pt was a big score for Skyline after many years of searching.

Second top story: a few days ago out of the blue came a call from a well-known fine printer, formerly of southern California but now inactive and removed to Arizona. The time has come, sez he, to lighten the load and move on yet again. Chief casterman and I dropped everything and launched in the truck and trailer. The first load was four Hamilton metal type cabinets replete with rare, mostly European type, which appears new and never inked, some still in the package and including many large point sizes. The faces: Nubian (ATF), Dominante (Ludwig & Mayer), Folio (Bauer) Information (Klingspor) and the crown jewel, Claudius Fraktur* (Klingspor). Plus others. Subsequent loads less exciting but certainly worthwhile. All this will be inventoried, evaluated and proffered up for sale in due time.
*In case you’re curious: Claudius Fraktur
Continuing on with the Bookman series, we introduce Bookman Old Style and Italic in 24 point. The final size, 36pt, is in progress and slated for release next month.

And one new decorative item for February: Border No. A-628. This bold two-element design has a rather eastern aesthetic and is cast from Ludlow matrices.

Back in stock are Quads & Spacing in 18 and 42pt, and the long-soldout Collection No. 25, the larger of our two Perpetual Calendar Month sets.
Now back to work. Happy Ground Hog Day and you’ll hear from us again next month.
