NOTE: Cast on a Monotype Type & Rule machine, and poorly done–what we call a ‘cold cast’. Lots of brain-lines in the body from the pot being below correct temp. Poor lateral alignment too; I had to dress a few characters so they would fit flush. The face looks like it will print OK though.
The uniform inking indicates that a proof was taken of the entire font. Type is not worn. A note in the case reads “Purchased from Letterpress Things, $150”.

This is Tuscan Shade No. 2 as shown by Farmer in 1870. New England Type & Stereotype showed it in 1851 as Tuscan Ornamented.
