We don’t have a specific ID on this antique but the pinmark is that of Chicago Type Foundry (Marder, Luse & Co.) It was rescued from the old newspaper office in Silverton, Colorado. All five f-ligatures and the two capital diphthongs are present, as well as a few pieces of matching 40 point spacing. Some wear, tear and dings.
BREAKING NEWS! This just in from George T. in OKC: In the 1897 ATF Book this font appears on page 192c as Antique Extended No. 32. In the 1898 ATF Desk Book the face is on page 214 as Antique Extended No. 124 but does not include the 22, 28 & 40 point sizes. They were dropped and replaced by 18, 24, 30 and 42 point sizes.
